Here’s the Mortal Beasts & Deities schedule, always in flux and usually filling up fast. We all hope you can join us for some controlled mayhem and earnest frivolity!

  • December 27, 2009: Giant puppets enliven the Christmas Pageant at Trinity Episcopal Church in Cliffside Park New Jersey.
  • December 6, 13, 20, 2009: Sundays in New Jersey at Trinity Episcopal Church in Cliffside Park and Fort Lee Episcopal Church in Fort Lee, directing and rehearsing congregants in their annual giant puppet Christmas Pageant.
  • November 21 & 22, 2009: Very serious business at Walking the Dog Theater’s Nose to Nose advanced clown workshop.
  • November 17, 2009: Speaking engagement at the Rotary International of Salisbury luncheon, including a beautiful Powerpoint presentation describing where MB&D came from and why, and where it may be headed, all hinging on Satyr, Nymph Phoebe, the Stilt Band, and the Old Oracles not becoming too disruptive!
  • November 7, 2009: Outerspace calls Rooster, Leonardo daVinci, Lamb, some stilt dancing….. same old everyday stuff.
  • October 31, 2009: Several Splendiferous Stilt Dancers join millions of Halloween celebrants at the 2009 New York Village Halloween Parade, taking the tall spots up in the front, leading off NYC’s largest night parade with stilt dancers from Bond Street Theater. This year’s theme is ‘Terra Incognita.’ From the Village to Chelsea in New York City.
  • October 25, 2009: Hawk, the Flock of Doves, and Stilt Dancers being loud and obnoxious as the Black and Gold Band, at Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s annual Ghouls and Gourds Festival in Brooklyn New York.
  • October 11, 2009: A quirky quad of hootin n hollerin Stilt Dancers will carouse with Emperor Norton’s Stationary Marching Band and Madcap Rumpus Society at HONK!Fest from Davis Sq in Somerville to Harvard Sq in Cambridge Massachusetts.
  • October 8, 2009: Stilt Dancers rev up the walkers, and walk themselves at the Light the Night campaign of the Connecticut Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Norwalk Connecticut.
  • October 3, 2009: Hawk and Dove duo soar from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m at United Way of Westchester and Putnam’s CAMP-A-PALOOZA- A Family Festival at Camp Hillard in Scarsdale New York.
  • October 1, 2009: Stilt Dancers rev up the walkers, and walk themselves at the Light the Night campaign of the Connecticut Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Hartford Connecticut.

  • September 26, 2009: Hawk and the Flock of Doves soar through the 28th annual Family Nature Day at the White Memorial Conservation Center in Litchfield Connecticut.
  • September 20, 2009: A trio of outrageous stilt dancers dance into the night with the Boston Circus Guild and Emperor Norton’s Stationary Marching Band, at Oberon, the American Repertory Theater, in Cambridge Massachusetts.
  • September 20, 2009: The Flock of Doves spend the afternoon soaring over Millbrook Meadow on Peace Day with residents of Cape Ann and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Rockport, in Rockport Massachusetts.
  • August 23, 2009: Mortal Beasts & Deities returns to the Soapbox Derby in Kingston New York.
  • August 15, 2009: Solo stilt dancer joins up with the Boston Circus Guild at McFadden’s Saloon in Boston.
  • August 15, 2009: Mortal Beasts & Deities give back to the hometown at the Music Mountain Family Festival in Falls Village Connecticut.
  • July 11, 2009: Stilt dancing and puppetry with Maya Apfelbaum at Quadricentennial Parade in Burlington Vermont.
  • June 27, 2009: Assorted showy shenanigans and also a slide presentation and talk about the January and February Guatemala Belize Literacy Tour, at Project Troubador Grove Festival in Lakeville Connecticut.
  • June 13, 2009: Stilt dancing and puppetry in Maya Apfelbaum’s parade for Dearfield RiverFest in Shelburne Falls Masachusetts.
  • June 7, 2009: A giant Dove adds soaring grace to international flag ceremony and services at Norfolk Congregational Church held on the village green in Norfolk Connecticut.

  • May 1, 2009: Stilt Dancers at the Cuban Dance Party at MASSMoCA (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art) in North Adams Massachusetts.
  • April 6, 2009: Hawk and the Flock of Doves soar at the Lincoln Memorial for the Cherry Blossom Festival on the Mall in Washington DC.
  • March 21, 2009: Joining forces with Rick Alexander of ‘Stilting with Rick’, a stilted duo of tall pep rallying for Cow Chip Bingo for Operation Graduation at Martin County High School in Stuart Florida.
  • March 14, 2009: Two stilt dancers rev up another Mardi-Gras, this time it’s Space Coast Mardi-Gras at Cocoa Village in Cocoa Beach Florida.
  • February 24, 2009: Two stilt dancers to rev up Fat Tuesday Mardi-Gras on the boardwalk in Hollywood Beach Florida.
  • January – February 2009: The Mortal Beasts & Deities is honored to share their special blend of controlled mayhem and earnest frivolity, in a collaboration with Rural Literacy Project and Project Troubador for a cultural exchange and literacy promotion tour of Guatemala and Belize. Since knowledge is strength and literacy promotes knowledge, the primary goal of this tour will be to continue an eight year old ongoing project of RLP to establish and replenish libraries in small Latin American villages.
  • January 4, 2009: Geppetto helps the Trinity Episcopal Church celebrate Epiphany carrying the north star high on stilts, at Cliffside Park New Jersey.
  • November – December 2008: The giant puppets of the Holy Family and Archangel Gabriel return, with parishioner puppeteers, to celebrate the birth of Jesus in the Lessons and Carols Service at the Trinity Episcopal Church Cliffside Park New Jersey, and other churches, including All Saints Episcopal Church in Leonia New Jersey.
  • November 23, 2008: The Flock of Doves will soar in gratitude as part of the Thanksgiving service at Salisbury Congregational Church in Salisbury Connecticut.
  • November 1, 2008: MB&D stilt dancers puppeteers and others in Outerspace! Lakeville Connecticut.
  • October 31, 2008: MB&D stilt dancers join Bond Street Theater stilt dancers to step off and lead the New York City Village Halloween Parade.
  • October 26, 2008: The Flock of Doves present their earnest frivolity with choreographic excerpts from their Resolution Revolution show, on the stage at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens in Brooklyn New York.
  • October 25, 2008: One of our splendid stilt dancers to present a special blend of earnest frivolity and controlled mayhem to encourage walkers in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk in New Haven Connecticut.

  • October 12, 2008: Stilt dancing shenanigans with Handsome Chuck and Emperor Norton’s Stationary Marching Band and Madcap Rumpus Society at Harvard Square Oktoberfest HONK! Fest Parade Harvard Square, Cambridge Massachusetts.
  • October 11, 2008: Guatemala themed stilt dancers above Salisbury at the Salisbury Fall Festival, Salisbury Connecticut.
  • October 4, 2008: The Flock of Doves and Hawk will be soaring with the celebrations at the African-American Day Parade and Multi-Cultural Unity Day Festival in Newburgh New York. (this is the rain date from Sept 6)
  • September 27, 2008: Hawk and the Flock of Doves to soar at White Memorial’s 27th Annual Family Nature Day, joined by Hope Douglas from “Wind Over Wings” presenting five birds of prey, and “Sirius Coyote” presenting a one hour concert featuring music of the Americas, at White Memorial Conservation Center in Litchfield Connecticut.
  • September 25, 2008: Stupendous stilt dancer will employ a tall stack of earnest frivolity and controlled mayhem to egg on participants walking in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk in Hartford Connecticut.
  • September 14, 2008: The Flock of Doves, Rooster and Hawk will do excerpts from Resolution Revolution on the stage of Prospect Park Bandshell at the Vigil For International Peace in Brooklyn.
  • September 6, 2008: The Flock of Doves and Hawk make a soaring contribution to the celebrations of the first African-American Day Parade and MultiCultural Unity Day Festival in 27 years in Newburgh New York.
  • August 17, 2007: Puppetry and stilting zaniness at the 14th annual Kingston Artist’s Soapbox Derby in Kingston New York.
  • August 16, 2008: Giving back to our home town of Falls Village Connecticut, puppets and stilt dancing at the Music Mountain Family Festival, put on by Music Mountain, the oldest continuing summer chamber music festival in this country.
  • August 9 & 10, 2008: Dove and Hawk join the white ring necked dove and the other real animals and nature exhibits and activities at the Sharon Audubon Festival at Audubon Sharon, in Sharon Connecticut.
  • July 24 – 26, 2008: Debut performance of the Leo and Mona Show, a brand new puppet play on the Family Stage, as well as our always popular puppetry and stilt dancing chicanery throughout Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in Hillsdale New York.

  • June 28, 2008: The Mortal Beasts & Deities’ embraces flexibility for a new zany stilt dancin performance opportunity, dancing with the St Croix reggae band Midnite and the Taos reggae band Lion Tribe at The KTAOS Solar Center in Taos New Mexico.

  • September 29 & 30, 2007: The dazzling Mortal Beasts & Deities debut of the two new puppets, Mona Lisa and Leonardo daVinci, at the Italian Festival in Kingston New York. Hosted by the Kingston Rondout Business Association and held in and around the historic waterfront district, this is the perfect opportunity to find out what made Mona’s famous smile!
  • September 22, 2007: The Flock of Doves and Hawk will do a short rendition of Resolution Revolution on the stone stage of Central Park’s Bandshell at the Vigil For International Peace in New York City
  • August 19, 2007: A surprise mix of puppetry and stilting madness to join the 13th annual Kingston Artist’s Soapbox Derby in Kingston New York.
  • August 11, 2007: Assorted puppets to entertain again at the Family Festival of Music Mountain in Falls Village Connecticut.
  • July 28 & 29, 2007: Assorted puppets and stilt dancers throughout Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, Hillsdale New York.
  • July 14, 2007:Stilt dancers dance with the latin rhythms of Soñando at the Northeast Community Center’s Family Arts Festival in Millerton New York.
  • June 30, 2007: Numerous puppets, perhaps Lion and Lamb or Old Oracles, probably the Flock of Doves and Hawk, to create a magical enchanted forest atmosphere at Project Troubador Grove Festival. Begins at 5pm at the Lakeville Town Grove in Lakeville Connecticut.
  • June 17, 2007: Doves will soar and Geppetto will stilt dance at the Clearwater Festival, the Great Hudson River Revival, Croton Point Park, Croton-on-Hudson, New York.
  • June 9, 2007: Flock of Doves to join Wisdom House to celebrate their Labyrinth’s 10th anniversary. Begins at 2PM in the chapel with a drum circle, then the Flock will lead all participants down the hill to the beautiful Cretan style labyrinth. Promises to be absolutely beautiful, in bucolic Litchfield Connecticut.
  • May 13, 2007: Bestefar and Bestemore to join the performance art of Feet of the Sky Collective for the 2nd annual Mother’s Day Peaceable Planet Puppet Parade in Northampton.
  • April 14, 2007: MB&D’s Satyr and Nymph Phoebe head to Brooklyn’s Lune Lounge for some carousing at a New York City Village Halloween Parade. fund raiser.
  • March 25, 2007: Old Oracles and a sequined stilt dancer to perform at the PPPP Phundraiser at Evolution Café in Northampton.
  • March 17, 2007: Flock of Doves to Washington DC, soaring in the March on the Pentagon.
  • March 3 & 4, 2007: Resolution Revolution broadcast on TV! A segment of Pet Talk to feature Resoluton Revolution with the Flock of Doves and Hawk and Rooster, along with an artist’s interview by Lauren Collier of Geppetto, on News12 Connecticut. Filming on February 25, 2007
  • February 17, 2007: Serious fun with Dionysus and Satyr revving up the parade on Mardi Gras Saturday in historic Kingston New York’s Rondout waterfront district.
  • January 26, 2007: Stilt dancer plays part of a very tall dancing hippie in 60’s themed Creative Cocktails, a gala fundraiser for Martin County Library System Association staged by B.B.Jones Public Communications in Stuart Florida.
  • January 13, 2007: Dove to help Jupiter Florida soar at the Riverwalk Jazz Festival.
  • January 12, 2007: Dove to join Peace Rally at Roosevelt Bridge in Stuart Florida.
  • January 11, 2007: Sequined stilt dancer to celebrate in Jammin’ Jenson street fair in old town Jenson Beach Florida.
  • December 24, 2006: Annual performance in the lessons and carols service on Christmas Eve at the Cathedral of St John the Divine, with the Cathedral’s newly restored Holy Family puppets, in New York City.
  • December, 2006: Geppetto to work at Cathedral of St John the Divine on a restoration project of the Cathedral’s Holy Family puppets, in New York City.
  • October 31, 2006: Three sequined stilt dancers, assisted by a stilter’s sherpa wearing a costume topped by a sequined helmet, lead the New York Village Halloween Parade in New York City with 9 stilt dancers from Bond Street Theater Company and a Dixieland band.
