Flock of Doves

Due to their astounding beauty and felicitous symbolism, the Flock of Doves have been the most popular and most often requested puppets in the history of the troupe.
Each graceful dove puppet is performed by a stilt dancing puppeteer. Awesomely large, the doves are roughly 10 feet tall with a 10 foot wingspan, depending on the puppeteer and stilt height. The doves have papier mache heads and fleece bodies covered with lots of fluttery feathers.
Sometimes they perform with puppets Hawk and Rooster in The Mortal Beasts & Deities’ 2005 puppet show called Resolution Revolution, a puppet play with original choreography and live music, designed for the stage.
The original Dove was developed in 2003 to work as Hawk’s contrasting foil. The rest of the flock was hatched in 2004 by Geppetto’s addition of two more dove puppets…. thanks to the optimistic eggs laid by the Cathedral of St John the Divine in New York City, and the incubation of those eggs through the abundant generosity of several parishioners and the Al Sly Fund of the Congregational Church of Salisbury Connecticut.
The doves exude pacifism. Either in improvised walk-about or on stage in Resolution Revolution, their grace is available for your event. Imagine a flock of huge doves soaring through your venue…. it is always a memorable experience for all.
The Flock of Doves has performed at the Salisbury Congregational Church, Cathedral of St John the Divine, Project Troubador Music Festival, Gathering of the Vibes Music Festival, Falcon Ridge Music Festival, Jupiter Florida Riverwalk Jazz Festival, Geer Village, Kingston Artists Soapbox Derby, Cornwall Consolidated School in Region One Schools, Connecticut News12 TV, Wisdom House of Litchfield, Clearwater Hudson River Revival Festival , Knology Clearwater Sea-Blues Festival , Washington Monument Memorial and many private parties, festivals and political rallies.
The doves perform either solo or as duo or trio.
